Welcome to Ms. Berard’s 4th Grade Class
My name is Ms. Berard and I am excited to be part of the Molly Stark 4th Grade team! More importantly, I am honored to be your students teacher this year! It's going to be a great year that's full of learning and new adventures, as well as continued diligence regarding COVID19. I know that our students can rise to the challenge. I look forward to meeting everyone on the first day of school, but first, I want you to know a little about me.
I was born in Bennington, Vermont. I moved to Louisiana as a young adult and that is where my son, Justin, was born. Two years later I moved to Alaska where my daughter, Elizabeth, was born. We lived in Alaska for 5 years before moving to New York and then finally back to Bennington. My children’s father is a retired US Army Soldier.
While living in New York I Had an Early Education Program in my home through the US Army for two years. In Vermont I worked at Pownal School for 12.5 year in the kindergarten classrooms and then moved to the Woodford school for 2 years teaching the 3rd, 4th and some 5th grade curriculum. This is my first year at Molly Stark and I am looking forward to working with you all.
I enjoy spending time with my children, cooking, woodworking, and the arts. I am inquisitive about everything and passionate about learning as much as I can. I hope to create that passion in you children!
We will continue to utilize IXL and Lexia Core5 as our Tier II instructional technology, and both Math (GoMath) and ELA (Reading Street) will include whole-class and small group instruction. I will also be using the Epic! (reading) and Boom (task cards) Learning (math) systems for practice work. During distance learning, we will continue to use Google Classroom as our main learning management system, and Zoom as our teleconferencing software. Teaching will consist of both synchronous (real time) and asynchronous (at the student's own pace) learning. I will also have office hours when I will be available during the day for students and caregivers alike.
More information will be sent home about the coming year with your learner during the first few days of school. If you need anything in the meantime, please do not hesitate to email me. I will be using the ClassDojo app as a means of communication with you and your learners. The app is available at both the Apple Store and on Google Play. I have already set-up the ClassDojo classroom and all parents are either already connected, or an invitation to connect has been sent to the email you have on file with the school.
