Welcome to Mrs. Sargent's 4th Grade

Welcome class of 2020-2021,

Another school year is almost upon us and I’m sure many of you are beginning to have the same questions I had as a student—what will we be doing this year and what is my teacher like?

The second question might be a little easier to answer then the first one, so here goes.  I have been a teacher at Molly Stark since 1990.  From 1990-2001 I taught in the capacity of substitute teacher at Molly Stark nearly every day.  In 2001 I began teaching as a reading interventionist and transitioned into the classroom in 2003.  I have taught 3^rd grade and for the last 11 years, I have taught 4^th.  I very much enjoy teaching in general, but specifically the 4^th grade.  I love jokes and will probably have one for you every day during morning meeting!  I believe in having fun, but I also have a serious side.  Every year in school is important, but I think 4^th is very important as learners begin to transition from early elementary where the lessons lay the foundation for all subjects, to upper elementary where you start using your foundational skills to continue your learning.

My husband and I have a redbone dog whose name is Ann, but you will often hear me call her Cheese For Brains because she is usually doing something that gets her in trouble.  She is only 2 years old, so she is still pretty young.  I love to travel, garden, and quilt in my spare time, as well as write.

Now for the more difficult question: what will we be doing this year?  As you know, we will begin the school year on-line because of Covid-19.  We will still be using our Go Math materials and our Reading Street stories, but until we return to school, science and social studies will be integrated into our main subjects.  Our primary platform will be Google Classroom.  I have sent everyone an invitation through your individual gmail accounts, but I have reset everyone’s password.  Please make sure you have accepted the invitation prior to September 8th.  The code for our Google Classroom and your password for gmail is below:
