Weekly Update

Dear Molly Stark Families,

Welcome back from our Spring Break 2022! We hope everyone had a relaxing and healthy week!

Please read the information below from our school nurse, Julie Senecal. Thank you Nurse Julie for these reminders for safe and healthy best practices.

If you did not get a chance to meet or speak with your child's classroom teacher, special educator, or special service provider, please reach out and we can arrange a time to discuss your child's progress.

There was a lot of information shared in the Family Edition of the SVSU weekly last week. For this information please  search for SVSU.org and continue to the bottom tab, newsletters, updates, and resources to find the most current newsletter which includes summer opportunities, Family Fest, and Kindergarten enrollment.

As the weather begins to warm up, please review our Dress Code Policy 5080- on the SVSU.org website under the tab policies and procedures. This policy is posted in all classrooms and reviewed by the classroom teacher. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to the classroom teacher directly.

From the Health Office- Julie Senecal, RN, BSN, MEd-School Nurse

Hand washing is vital as it is the number one way to prevent infections including the flu, COVID, stomach virus, and strep throat. It is a very simple procedure but even as adults, we can forget or because rushed, might neglect some very important steps, such as, washing for a full 20 seconds or scrubbing under our nails and washing over our wrists.  This is a great time to once again, reinforce this step-by-step process with your children. Hopefully, together, we can prevent and decrease the spread of illness in order to keep our learners healthy and in school.

How to properly wash your hands

Wash hands with liquid soap under warm running water for at least 20 seconds.

Wash hands thoroughly, paying special attention to germs that may be trapped

under nails and in crevices (including wrists).

Rinse well to remove all traces of soap.

Dry hands with paper towels.

Use a paper towel to turn off the faucet after washing your hands.

 When to Wash your hands:

  • When arriving at school and before leaving school
  • After coughing or sneezing
  • Before touching mucous membranes-inside eyes, nose, or mouth
  • Before and after eating or drinking or touching food
  • After handling raw meats or eggs
  • After touching sores, lacerations, or infected areas
  • After playing outside
  • After playing in water that more than one person has used
  • Before and after touching any animals
  • After using the toilet

Have a great week! With Gratitude - Principal Bazyk
